Amorepacific To Sell Face-Conforming LED Mask with Improved Efficacy

Clinical trials demonstrated a 340% improvement in deep skin elasticity.

Skin care LED masks have been available in the beauty space for several years. But many conventional masks have a rigid design and do not fit closely to the skin and facial contours, impacting the benefits. Scientists at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have developed a new design that is said to offer dramatically improved results—and Happi International Top 30 Company Amorepacific will reportedly begin marketing this improved mask this month.

In clinical trials involving 33 participants, the face-conforming surface lighting micro-LED (FSLED) mask demonstrated a 340% improvement in deep skin elasticity compared to conventional LED masks, proving its efficacy in significantly reducing skin wrinkles, sagging and aging, according to the team.

The KAIST team’s FSLED mask can provide uniform photostimulation to the dermis. This mask can deliver uniform light to deep skin tissues while maintaining a conformal skin attachment.

The mask, which is integrated with 3,770 micro-LEDs and flexible surface light-diffusion layer, minimizes the gaps between the light source and the skin.

“The FSLED mask provides cosmetic benefits to the entire facial dermis without the side effects of low-temperature burns, making home-care anti-aging treatment that enhances the quality of human life possible,” said Professor Keon Jae Lee.

The product is being manufactured by Fronics, KAIST startup company, and will be distributed globally through Amorepacific’s network, with sales starting in November.
